The Department of Accounting and Finance at Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) invites applications for a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) position in Accounting. While the Department welcomes applications in all areas of accounting, it is particularly keen to further strengthen its expertise in the areas of capital market research in accounting, bank accounting, textual analysis of accounting disclosures, and sustainability accounting.
You should have a Ph.D. in Accounting or a related discipline, or should be expected to complete your Ph.D. in the near future. You should be able to pursue your own independent research and develop publications in high quality and top accounting journals and should be able to deliver excellent teaching in both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Lecturer (Assistant Professor) positions carry a typical total salary package of up to £60,000 per annum. In exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to offer an additional supplement. Any such supplement would be awarded on the basis of a demonstrable record of exceptional achievement and is entirely at the discretion of the University.
Accounting and Finance is one of the largest departments within LUMS – a world-ranked international business school which has topped the UK research rankings for nearly two decades. LUMS was ranked first in the UK in research power in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework and is one of few business schools whose programs are accredited by all three international business school accreditation bodies: AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB. It is envisaged that this position will further strengthen the academic standing of Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) as a world class international business school. The Department offers an excellent research environment, with a high level of collegiality, generous research budgets, and subscriptions to state-of-the-art databases, a strong seminar series, and a senior visitors program.
