Professorial/Level 8: Competitive open band commencing at £72,710 per annum
Location: Cranfield, Bedfordshire
We are looking to appoint an imaginative, transformational leader as Professor and Head of the Centre for Air Transport Management. Their role will be to provide thought leadership within a specialism relevant to Air Transport Management, and to direct a high-performing team. This will involve people and financial management, external engagement and business development.
The global COVID-19 pandemic and the effects of economic and political instability on the global supply chain have had a profound effect on the aviation industry and there are many challenges (trials) to rebuild an operation that is both economically and environmentally sustainable and also resilient to future disruption. At the same time, the aviation industry is experiencing radical transformation, especially in terms of digitalisation, new technologies and new classes of aviation such as E-VTOL and drones. To navigate the future and maintain our position in the sector, we are looking for a head of who will help to further develop our educational offerings as well as our research and consultancy activities. This will include developing collaborations with colleagues across campus, in other Universities and in both industry and government to deliver sustainable growth within the aviation industry and to educate future leaders.
The background of this Professor may either be academic or industrial on the basis that the chosen candidate is able to demonstrate a successful track record relevant to air transport management at a senior level.
