The role
The University of Bristol Business School invites applications for the position of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Accounting. This is a permanent position, subject to review.
We are seeking applications from candidates with research interests in any field of accounting, we are particularly interested in applicants with expertise in management accounting and sustainability accounting. Successful candidates will demonstrate a track record of (for the lecturer position, the potential for) outstanding research and will be undertaking innovative work that complements and extends our existing research and teaching activities in accounting.
For the L position, applicants must hold or be close to completing a PhD in a relevant field by the time of application. For SL, applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant field. All applicants will have an aptitude for teaching the highest standards at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Bristol University attracts high-quality faculty and students. The new Business School invests heavily in research, and it engages with a wide range of stakeholders. It regularly hosts leading speakers as part of highly active seminar series. Research budgets and teaching support are available to allow early and mid-career researchers to establish and develop their research and teaching portfolios.
What will you be doing?
Research: You will be expected to conduct outstanding research and undertaking innovative work that complements and extends the school’s existing research and teaching activities. Your research will be relevant to academic and non-academic audiences and will lead to high quality publications in internationally leading accounting journals. Senior Lecturers will further be expected to consolidate their publication records and lead research funding bids.
Education: You will be expected to take an active role in conducting high quality and innovative accounting teaching in the new Business School. This will include delivering lectures, seminars, designing and marking assessments, supervising dissertations or placements, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will be expected to act as a personal tutor and to complete the CREATE HEA Fellowship.
Citizenship: You will be expected to contribute to the effective running of the Accounting Group, Business School and Faculty by undertaking academic leadership roles and administrative duties specified by the Head of Group or Head of School.
