About the role
This role as Chair is an essential strategic appointment for the University as it establishes the first National Centre for Fashion and Sustainability. It is also a first expression of a Professorship in the University’s new K3E academic pathway, K3E representing Knowledge Exchange, Enterprise, and Employability. The new Centre will mesh with the University’s existing strong interdisciplinary practice-based research and enterprise strengths, and the highly globally problematised relationship between the Fashion industry and Sustainability involves not just fashion and allied creative industries, but all aspects of business, human behaviour, finance, ecology, politics, health and well-being.
The scope of the post will be to work closely with Government policy nationally and internationally, the fashion industry at corporate and local levels, driving change in practice and products. These foci will drive significant practice based public and private bidding opportunities. Industry based applicants are encouraged to apply alongside those with academic pathways.
About you (requirements)
We are seeking an exceptionally well networked national leader within the Fashion industry, with leverage of national fashion and sustainability policy, and the capacity to significantly build the University’s K3E outputs for the newly forming National Centre for Fashion and Sustainability.
About us
Bath Spa University is focused on creative enterprise and guided by our four values of respect, inclusivity, collaboration and sustainability. We teach around 8,000 students on a set of campuses around Bath, with most being located at Newton Park, including a listed Georgian house and grounds, or Locksbrook Road, our new city-centre art and design campus. Our research centres focus on creative industries and humanities.
Our purpose is to challenge our students and staff to realise their talent and thrive, for their own benefit and for the wider good. By doing this we will think and make the world better.
This role will report to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor External and be part of the project to develop a National Centre for Global Fashion and Sustainability
